Welcome to Victor Khanye Local Municipality

Victor Khanye Local Municipality is strategically located in the Highveld of Mpumalanga province, right on the border of Gauteng province. The municipality is less than 100km from key cities such as Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Emalahleni, making it a central hub for commerce and transportation. The municipality is linked by the major freeway, the N12, which has been declared a Maputo Corridor, a vital route for trade and transport. Additionally, a railway line runs through the municipality, connecting the inner Mpumalanga province to Mozambique. This strategic positioning has earned the municipality the title of a gateway to the inner Mpumalanga province.

Victor Khanye Local Municipality’s Twinning Programme

Victor Khanye Local Municipality (VKLM) is one of the municipalities participating in the twinning programme. The South African Chinese Entrepreneurship Association invited VKLM to discuss foreign trade exchange and economic investment between VKLM and Chenzhou Municipality (Hunan Province, People’s Republic of China). The Executive Mayor, Council Speaker, and Senior Management represented the Municipality at a meeting in Sandton on February 22, 2024. The Municipality’s presentation was accepted by the Mayor of Chenzhou, and an intent agreement was signed by both parties, necessitating a visit to Chenzhou.
